Last but not least, we visited Italy for our last side trip of the summer. This was such a special trip in so many ways. One of our team members is from Siena, Italy, which means we had some great tour guides, the Fellini family. They were so good to us: picking us up from the airport, showing us the city, helping us order food, and even getting us into their neighborhood dinner for The Palio. We were all welcomed to Italy with open arms. The Palio was a highlight of the trip. I have never seen anything like I saw that day. The energy and spirit of the city was amazing.
Instead of spending Independence Day on the lake or around a grill, we spend it in Siena, Florence, and Pisa. After a long weekend, we finally make it back home to Harlaxton Manor. We are now in the final stretch of projects. We are working all day, only breaking for food and sleep. It is a stressful time, but also very exciting to see everything coming together. It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month. Our team has become very close over the last month; it will be an adjustment to be around more than just these eight people. But at the same time, I am looking forward to being home.
