Besides our tour of Belvoir Castle, we have worked 9am to 6pm every day since our Ireland and Scotland trip.  We have had a very productive week in sending our client our booklet, logo, and website designs, along with a client survey.  We were very pleased with the feedback, now proceeding on coding the website, continuing on the media plan, and starting on stationary, PowerPoint, and email temples.  We only have six more working days left for the project.  Even though this is a really stressful thought, it is a fun challenge we are all willing to take.

We are now officially half way through our abroad trip.  So much has happened these last two weeks it seems we’ve been here much longer.  This past weekend we traveled to Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland.

After landing in Dublin we spent the day exploring the city.  We took a tour at Guinness were we learned the steps of brewing, later learning to pour the “Perfect Pint” of Guinness.  We also enjoyed a wonderful Free Walking Tour where we got to see where U2 was discovered, where Sweeney Todd would have been, Trinity College, Dublin Castel, and many other attractions.  We also enjoyed the music and culture of Ireland.  It is such a lively place, everyone is so friendly and apologies for the weather.

The second half of the weekend we spent in Edinburgh.  We landed early in the morning, in time for a good breakfast at a local restaurant.  We took another Free Walking Tour where we saw many landmarks for Harry Potter, learned a touching story of Bobbie: the most loyal dog, learned about the spiting heart, the Edinburgh Castle, and many other attractions.  Midafternoon we enjoyed “The Scotch Whisky Experience”, were we took a barrel ride tour of how whisky is made, learned the differences in whiskeys, and even learned how to taste it!  Leaving us with a little glass souvenir. We spent hours at the Castel looking through all of the museums, learning about Scotland’s history.  Like Ireland, Scotland had a great culture and music, along with a lot of rain and friendly people.

After a very long train ride home, we finally pulled up to our home at Harlaxton Manor.  We have only been here for a short while, but something about this place makes me feel at home.  It is amazing how such a massive place can feel so warm and cozy.  When the time does come for us all to go home to the United State, I will try miss this place and everything that goes with it.

We have landed in England!  We have now adjusted to our new home and time change.  Harlaxton is such a beautiful place with such friendly people.  We spent time touring the Manor, seeing the town of Grantham, and after pitching our logo, website, and color palette ideas to our client, we took off to London for the weekend.

It is amazing we did so much in just two days.  Once we got to London, we bought “Hop on, Hop off” bus tickets.  This was great because as we traveled from place to place we had a tour guide pointing out different places and attractions.  Our fist stop was Buckingham Palace.  It was the Queen’s birthday, so London had a parade where we were able to see the Royal Family.  Once the family returned to the Palace, they stood on the balcony where we were able take some great photographs.  This was my favorite part of the weekend.  I never imagined I would ever have the opportunity to see the Royal Family with my own two eyes!

After kicking off the weekend with the Parade, we hit the ground running trying to see and do as much as possible.  We attended a beautiful service at Westminster Abbey, took a ride on the Eye of London, admired Big Ben, ate great food, and enjoyed all of the historical buildings and places.  Our last day we spent exploring the Natural History Museum, the British Museum, and the Thames River Cruise.  London has such a great culture, so many different people from different places; everyone was so friendly and helpful.

London was a great way to start off our month abroad, I can not wait to see what the future holds.

It is hard to believe we have already finished week two! In just a few days we will be boarding our plan to England.  We are now in the final stretch of packing and getting all last minute things in order.

To be fully prepared for arrival we have been researching, sketching, and brainstorming all week.  I am ready to experience Harlaxton Manor in real life, not just pictures and videos and from the Internet.  I look forward to seeing the Manor for the first time, taking in its beauty and exploring all it has to offer.
